Early Life & Roots:

Isatu Bangura, known professionally as Isat, is a Sierra Leonean-born, London-based Afropop artist blending Afrobeats, Dancehall, Pop, and Soul. With roots in Port Loko, Isat was born in Freetown and raised between Sierra Leone, the Netherlands, and the UK.

The Musical Journey Begins

Isat began her musical journey in a church choir at age 15, developing a powerful voice rooted in emotion and cultural pride. After moving to the UK in 2016, Isat released her debut singles “Take It Back” and “Why You Lying”, collaborating with top Sierra Leonean artists like Markmuday and Comforter. Her sound is inspired by Tiwa Savage, Tems, Ayra Starr, Wizkid, and Burna Boy, with lyrics often delivered in Krio—Sierra Leone’s widely spoken language.

Her growing catalog features fan favorites such as “Cocoa Butter” featuring Drizilik, “Fine Lek” which is a collaboration with Apreel, “New Bae”, “Ibrahim”, “Vibe”, and “Welcome to Sierra Leone”. “New Bae” received major airplay, including features on MTV Base Africa, AYV, and Star TV.

The Rise & Recognition

Her influence on social media continues to grow, with over 500,000 TikTok sound uses for her tracks “Cocoa Butter, “Fine Lek”, “Ibrahim”, “SALONE GIRLS,” and many others, reflecting her impact on younger audiences and viral culture.

Isat has performed across Europe and West Africa, sharing stages with artists like Ruger, Ayra Starr, and Drizilik in front of crowds of over 100,000.

New Era: 2025 and Beyond

In 2025, Isat released her hit single “Cocoa Butter” featuring Drizilik, produced by Thy Young. In 2026, she teamed up with Apreel to release the national hit “Fine Lek.” She is currently working on her debut EP, which is set for release at the end of the year.

A graduate of the University of East London with a degree in Creative Musicianship, Isat views music as both a spiritual art form and a universal language capable of transcending borders and connecting people from all walks of life.
